Event 1: AAC Commissioners and Public Service Pathways
Thursday, August 5th @6PM EST
Come hear from several AAC Commissioners as they share about their varied experiences as women in public service. Attendees will learn about public service pathways like community organizing, serving as an elected official, working in government, and more. They will also get a chance to engage with Commissioners and pick up key skills in interactive breakouts. This seminar is geared toward young people interested in public service but is open to all!

This seminar will feature Commissioners: Bora Chiemruom, Haniya Syeda, Meenakshi Bharath, Danielle Kim and will be moderated by Helena Berbano.

Event 2: Asian American Trailblazers in Local Politics
Wednesday, August 25th @6PM EST
Join us for a panel discussion with Asian American women trailblazers in local politics across Massachusetts. Panelists will offer reflections on the unique challenges and opportunities associated with being Asian American women “firsts,” as well as discuss the future of AAPI women’s political representation and the importance of local politics in effecting change.

Panelists include:
– Mehreen Butt (First American Muslim woman elected to a select board in the state)
– Vira Douangmany Cage (First elected Lao American in MA-Amherst School Committee)
– Vivian Nguyen (Ran for Everett, MA City Council at age 19)
– Lisa Wong (First AAPI woman mayor in MA)
